What is the purpose of fashion week?

• Fashion Week is an industry event that allows designers to showcase their upcoming designs to buyers and create brand awareness. 

Fashion week is broken down into two major seasons, Fall and Spring. In February the designers showcase their Fall/Winter collections. In September designers showcase their Spring/Summer collections. Designers showcase their collections ahead of time because if they were to showcase their collections for the current season then they would not have enough time to produce the products and put them into stores.

How to attend fashion week?

• Buyers and press are typically invited by the designers. If you don’t have an invitation you can request a ticket or a “press-pass”. The way to request a ticket is to go to cfda.com or NFW.com to see the fashion week schedule. Then you will need to find the press contact for each designer.
